Kinora v1.0.3 — in internal testing

What we've built

One product finished. More in the workshop.

Each BeliefSoft product gets its own identity and its own website. This page introduces them; the product's own site carries the complete story.

Kinora

Records where a family's assets, documents and important contacts are kept, so they can be found when they're needed. Works offline, needs no account.

Being built the same way as the first — a real problem, taken to a finish before it gets a name.

Named when it works, not when it starts.

We announce products when they work, not when they start. This one isn't ready to be described yet.

Why we exist

Most software wants something from you.

An account. A subscription. A contact list. A little more attention than it needs. We started BeliefSoft to find out what is left when you take all of that out — and whether people can feel the difference.

It works with the network off

Kinora's vault is on your phone. Not synced, not mirrored, not queued for upload. Turn on aeroplane mode and nothing about the app changes.

No backend exists in V1. Cloud sync code was removed, not disabled.

There is no account to create

No email, no password, no sign-up wall between you and the thing you came to do. You open the app and it is yours.

No login is required for local use.

Nothing reports back

There is no analytics SDK in the project. The opt-in telemetry toggle currently persists a preference and has nothing behind it — we would rather ship that honestly than pretend it does more.

The only analytics implementation is a no-op that makes no network calls.

How we build

We delete more than we ship.

The honest version of a development philosophy is not the list of things you added. It is the list of things you took out, and why.

Removed cloud sync entirely

The Firebase integration was deleted, not left dormant behind a flag. A vault that syncs is a vault someone else can be compelled to open.

Deleted the analytics screen

The route existed but nothing navigated to it, so it was shipping dead weight in every build. Charts and the charting library went with it.

Cut the AI chatbot

The placeholder screen was removed rather than kept as a promise. We do not know what the right version of that is yet, so there isn't one.

Great products are never finished. But they are frequently made smaller.

Who builds it

Who builds BeliefSoft’s products

BeliefSoft was founded on a plain belief: meaningful software doesn't require a large team. It requires staying with one problem long enough to actually solve it.

Every stage of Kinora — the research, the design, the code, the decisions about what to leave out — runs through one person. That is a real constraint, and it shows up in the product as a preference for fewer features that are finished over many that are nearly done.

It also means there is no support queue. When you write to BeliefSoft, the reply comes from the person who wrote the thing you're writing about.

FAQ

Questions we get often

Something not covered here? Write to us directly — every message reaches the person building the product.

No. There is no BeliefSoft server in this version — the vault lives on your phone, and backups go wherever you choose to put them. We don't see them because there is no mechanism by which we could.

Stay connected

We ship rarely. Hear about it when we do.

An email when a BeliefSoft product opens up or reaches a store — starting with Kinora. That's the whole list. No sequences, no newsletter you didn't ask for, and nothing you can't leave in one click.

Only product releases. A few emails a year at most.
